Abstract

This study determined the awareness of violence against women in Barangay 177 Caloocan
City. Recent events have brought public attention to the continuing problem of violence
against women in the Philippines, especially in every Barangay. Violence against women
continues to be a widespread human rights violation and a serious public health concern.
Thus, violence is a threat to all women, and they are particularly vulnerable because they lack
appropriate means of protection.

The respondents assessed their awareness of violence in terms of intentional bodily injury in
physical abuse, self-disappointment in mental abuse, and threatening or pressuring by
someone into unwanted sexual activity in sexual abuse. The most common problem that the
victim encountered was their fear of being judged, and to address that problem, learning basic
self-defense is the thing they can propose.

Awareness of violence against women would emphasize that violence poses on obstacle to
peace and security. It impedes women from becoming successful in life. Many women lose
their health, livelihood, husbands, and families as a result of violence. In conclusion, violence
against women is a difficult problem to solve. This is not always under the control of our law,
but we people always have the most reasonable solutions. We hope this issue will soon be
resolved so that all of these women will no longer have to suffer from these pains.
