Proactive Policing propagates the action of anticipating crimes in order to prevent them by
causing something to happen rather than responding to it after it has happened. This practice
was widely known in every country and continues to progress for a greater cause. The study
conducted evaluates the Effectiveness of Proactive Policing on Crime Prevention and the
problems encountered that influence its competency in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City.
Results showed after completing the study that the respondents believed that the conduct of
proactive measures has a significant contribution to the prevention of crime within the
community, which uplifts public confidence and trust of the people through continuous
observation of police visibility, patrol, and community policing. The ability to control and
maintain tranquility in a community was the product of employing the practice of proactive
policing. Meanwhile, the possible issues confronted by the authorities correlate with the given
variables, including lack of personnel, limited resources and outdated equipment, shortage of
funds, and unawareness of the people with the laid programs because of weak circulation of
information throughout the community. In conclusion, the problems encountered were quite
challenging and manageable but could still affect its effectivity. To achieve the utmost
effectiveness in implementing proactive policing, it is necessary to avail every resource and
manpower needed.
It is then recommended to tend to these deficiencies for the improvement of enforcing
proactive policing, for instance, having seminars, volunteering programs, operational activity
by the law enforcement and barangay peace officers or promoting advocacies that support the
agenda of preventing crime occurrence to deal with crime related matter to fight against
criminality and maintaining the peace and order within the community.
