Promoting Awareness in Grade 12 ABM Students in Proper Electricity Consumption Using Posted Guidelines in 3rd Floor Phase 1 Classroom

Abstract

The electricity in the school can be used by the students in the form of using lights and electric fan. Students have access to plugs whenever they need to use electricity for their laptops and a projector for their presentations. Some of the students use the electricity in the school to charge their mobile phones and gadgets. This study aimed to promote awareness to Grade 12 students on how to properly use the electricity inside the school because plugs and electricity access should be used for academic purposes only. The results of the study are helpful for the safety of the students and will be beneficial for the school. The researchers used descriptive research design and survey method to easily gather necessary information. The respondents of this study were 50 Grade 12 Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM)students that were selected through convenience sampling. The findings showed that the following are the guidelines that promote awareness in Grade 12 ABM students in using the electricity within the school properly: (1) establish standards in proper consumption of electricity inside the classroom (posting guidelines will promote awareness in students because they will follow a set of standards in using the electricity inside the classroom), (2) giving importance to the school facilities and equipment ( posting guidelines can promote awareness to students to give importance to school equipment that they used during classes), and (3) taking corrective action in preventing fire and other accidents relative to electricity consumption (posting guidelines can promote awareness of the students to prevent and avoid accidents related to electricity consumption in school. Based on the results of the study, the following recommendations were made by the researchers. First, students should follow the given guidelines. Second, the students should be reminded about the policies. Third, posting guidelines about the sanctions of illegal charging would be a great help for better understanding. Effective communication and implementation of school personnel and teachers in charge in the classroom will help the students to properly use the electricity in the school.
