Abstract

The 21st-century teachers and learners are using a variety of technology which has a great impact on the teaching and learning process. Due to the rapid growth and development of these scientific inventions, there are challenges and demands of the new century. Teachers must cope with these changes not to be left behind and enhance their teaching strategies. Multimedia is often applied to many courses as it provides a wide diversity of learning styles and modalities, helping establish a curriculum that appeals to visual, aural, and kinesthetic students. However, the biggest problem encountered is the misuse of multimedia. It is in the context that the researchers aim to discover the Effects of Multimedia in Teaching English for Senior High Students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. The descriptive design was used with 15 English Teachers as samples. A survey questionnaire, unstructured interview, and observation were used as instruments in gathering data. The raw data were analyzed using percentages, ranking, and weighted mean. There are more female than male teaching English, ranging from age21-31 years. These teachers used multimedia in teaching. However, problems with internet connections and purchasing laptops, lapels, and other multimedia tools are beyond their means. For teachers who used multimedia, this has a great impact on their teaching performances and enhances the student’s achievement level, both in the written and oral communications. Teachers should be flexible in their teaching strategies. A variety of instructional materials could help them teach more effectively. To provide these, administrators should increase the salary of the teachers. They should also conduct seminars or training on the proper use of multimedia in teaching to enhance the teacher's skills.
