Proposed Evacuation Center in Baliuag, Bulacan
Keywords:quantitative, evacuation center
Evacuation centers vary but are generally large facilities that can accommodate people in transition due to an emergency. Often, evacuation centers are school gyms, churches, or other community buildings that have room for people to sleep, generally on cots, and have adequate bathroom facilities. Several evacuation centers will provide laundry services, but not all do. Evacuation centers have bathrooms and showers, but they generally have no private rooms or secured areas. The centers are meant to be temporaryshelters. Meals are provided in all evacuation centers. The researchers aim to build a miniature proposed evacuation center in Baliuag, Bulacan in times of calamities and disasters to ensure the safety of families. This study used a quantitative research design. The researchers also utilized the survey questionnaire for Architect students. Meanwhile, Civil Engineering students assess the level of acceptability of the proposed evacuation center in Baliuag, Bulacan. The obtained overall weighted mean of 4th-year Architecture students was 3.44, with a variance of 0.061143, T-computed value of 0.55, a degree of freedom of 28, a T-critical value of 0.267, which was smaller than the T-computed value. Therefore, the assessment of the 4th-year Architecture students accepted. The obtained overall weighted mean of the Civil Engineering students was 3.52, with a variance of 0.06800, a T-computed value of 0.55, a degree of freedom of 28, a T-critical value of 0.267, which was less than the T-computed value. Therefore, the assessment of the Civil Engineering students is accepted. The researchers decided to change the materials from cardboard to Sintra board as the respondents suggested to make it durable and affordable. The researchers also changed the design of the miniature according to the construction codes. The researchers also changed the design to improve quality and function. Lastly, the researchers must follow exact and accurate measurements to make the miniature presentable.
