Abstract

The quality of education at the primary section depends on the quality of teachers and their competence and their capacity for the teaching and learning process. The quality of teachers and teaching lies in the heart of all schooling systems intending to offer quality education. The teaching force is the foundation of quality education at all levels. Secondary schools are managed and operated by the government, foundations, and local community initiatives. All these culminate into the inefficiencies that are manifested in terms of teacher deployment, repetitions, school drop-outs, repetitions, juvenile delinquency, etc. The researchers used descriptive design, which elaborates on the factor that causes low academic performance among Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences Strand students of Bestlink College of the Philippines of factors that cause low academic performance. The researchers administered a survey questionnaire to determine the factor that causes low academic performance. The statistical treatments used in this study are frequency distribution and weighted mean. Results showed that the respondents asserted that the financial aspect can be the factor that causes low academic performance, with a weighted mean of 4.05. Attendance factor causes low academic performance to the students’ study habits, with a weighted mean of 4. The third student asserted that the factor that causes low academic performance attendance, with a weighted mean of 3.41. Learning is a product not only for formal schooling but also for families, countries, and peers. Social, economic, and cultural forces affect learning and school achievement. Academic performance is undoubtedly a research drive at the heart of educators, teachers, psychologists, policymakers, parents and guardians, social workers, etc. In their attempts to investigate what determines the academic outcomes of learners, they have come up with more questions than answers.
