Abstract

This research was conceptualized to assess the process of providing first aid instructions to Grade 12 Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) students inside the classroom as an effective tool in risk reduction, risk management, and promoting safety and security. This research was chosen to raise awareness that first aid is essential to life and spread the knowledge on how to apply it correctly. The research method used here was quantitative with a purposive sampling design because it focuses on the impact of basic first aid instruction. The respondents were grade 12 ABM students of Bestlink College of the Philippines, S.Y. 2019–2020 from sections 2 and 11. The results of the study showed that teaching basic first aid reduced risk and promote safety and security. Learning first aid made students aware and alert and gave them knowledge on how to apply it correctly when needed. Learning first aid also improved the students' risk management skills because they became aware of the risk.. This project reduced the accidents and managed the situation with high confidence. This study also has a positive effect because the students know the possible accidents that will happen at any time. The p-value was 1.0000, which was greater than the α(alpha) of 0.01. The null hypothesis cannot be rejected; therefore, the difference in the risk management of Grade 12 ABM students in section 11 with first aid instructions inside the classroom compared with students from section 02 without first aid instructions inside the classroom was significant. This study discussed that students should learn first aid instructions and understand their importance in saving a life during emergencies. Teachers should guide the students in assessing the risk of injury, and the school administrators should conduct training and seminar and provide first aid instructions in every classroom. The researchers suggested the use of this study as a reference for future studies. This study also discussed if there will be a significant difference between sections 12-11, which was the experimental group, and 12-02, which was the control group.
