Assessment of Acceptability of Serpentina and Oregano Pandesal

Abstract

Serpentina is an effective herbal medicine for many illnesses, such as fever, and it also helps people who have high blood pressure to maintain it to a normal level. Meanwhile, oregano is an effective herbal medicine for our immune system. Meanwhile, pandesal is used to be the first food that Filipinos want to have every morning. The researchers put these three together to come up with an innovative product. Pan de sal, which means “bread of salt,” is a typical Filipino bread that is traditionally served in breakfast together with hot coffee. The researchers used an experimental method. Random sampling was used here to select the respondents. A survey questionnaire was used to gather the information of respondents. The following are the assessments in terms of taste, aroma nutritional value, presentation, and composite weighted mean, as well as verbal interpretation. The findings showed that the composite weighted mean was 3.53 in terms of taste, 3.64 in terms of aroma, 3.99 in terms of nutritional value, 4.02 in terms of presentation, with the total composite weighted mean was 3.80, which had the verbal interpretation of strongly agree. The findings of the teachers showed the composite weighted mean of 3.4 terms of taste, 3.48 in terms of aroma, 4.35 in terms of nutritional value, and4.25 in terms of presentation, with the total composite weighted mean of 3.87, which had the verbal interpretation of strongly agree. Therefore, serpentina and oregano pandesal is not salty, has well-blended flavors, and is delicious and appetizing. In terms of aroma, serpentina and oregano pandesal has a pleasant smell, and both respondents moderately disagreed that it has a foul odor and strongly agreed that it has a pleasing smellin a way that makes you lick your lips. In terms of aroma, the two groups of respondents assess it with the verbal interpretation of very strongly agree. In terms of the nutritional value, the two groups of respondents strongly agreed that the product is rich in vitamins, rich in minerals, good for the heart, and has low cholesterol. The composite weighted mean had the verbal interpretation of strongly agree. In terms of presentation, the two groups of respondents assessed banana peel as strongly agree by using four indicators, such as complexity, cleanliness and neat presentation, safe to handle, and enhance its aesthetic appeal. The results showed that this product is marketable because the price is affordable and it is well-balanced through the strategy that the researchers had used while doing the product. The researchers also recommended that this product should be at least the food for the people who have a problem with their sleeping routine and for people who had a problem with their high blood pressure. Given that this product has an herbal plant as an ingredient, eating it should be limited.
