Abstract

Sanitation refers to public health conditions that are related to clean drinking water and adequate treatment and disposal of human excreta and sewage. Sanitation systems aim to protect human health by providing a clean environment that will stop the transmission of disease. A school canteen must be free from dirt and must have a safe environment. Performing safe personal sanitation for the staff members, being aware of food storage, keeping food inthe right condition, and maintaining neatness are the steps the staff must take to always ensure safe consumption. A school canteen is a great place that helps promote the enjoyment of eating healthy foods. The food purchased makes a significant contribution to the students who use the canteen regularly for their total food intake and nutrition. The researchers used descriptive design here to elaborate the assessment of the sanitation of the students in the school canteen. The researchers administered survey questionnaires to determine the sanitation/cleanliness of food and beverages in the school canteen. The statistical treatments used in this study were frequency distribution and weighted mean. The results of this study showed that the students agreed that nutritious food should be served, with a weighted mean of 3.29. The respondents strongly agreed that the utensils they use should be proper, with a weighted meanof4.18. The respondents also strongly agreed that servers should be courteous, friendly, and satisfy the customers’ needs, with a weighted mean of 4.11. Students use the canteen regularly. The vital role of the canteen is to create a school culture of healthy eating and promote healthy foods. This research’s objective is to tell students that they should keep the facilities clean for canteen personnel and students. Students should also be careful while using the school facilities.
