Abstract

Most insecticides that are effective for household use are inorganic that tend to be harmful to the user and environment. Recent statistics showed that 75% of households use a form of insecticide, with much of this being used indoors. They are used to kill ants, roaches, mosquitoes, fleas, and tick. Quantitative analysis was the research method of design utilized in this study. The participants of the study were five Chemistry teachers and five Science teachers who assessed the level of acceptability in terms of usefulness, effectiveness, safety, and marketability by using t-test. The distinguished findings of the study in terms of usefulness, effectiveness, safety, and marketability were highly acceptable. The assessment of the two groups of respondents did not have any significant difference in the level of acceptability. The results of the science investigatory project in terms of usefulness, effectiveness, safety, and marketability were highly acceptable as assessed by the science and chemistry teachers of Bestlink College of the Philippines. This result indicated no significant difference between the assessments of the two groups of respondents in terms of the cited variables. wherein science teachers obtained an overall weighted mean of 3.73, which was interpreted as highly acceptable with the variance of 0.932. Meanwhile, chemistry teachers obtained an overall weighted mean of 3.22, which was interpreted as acceptable with the variance of 0.8055; both respondent groups had a t-computed value of 0.93 and degree freedom of 8 with the value of 1.397; the t-computed value was also greater than the t-critical value. Therefore, the assessment of the chemistry teachers is accepted. We decided to make a science investigatory project titled “Bamarlacami Insecticide.” At first, we were confused but still decided to start what we planned. Bamarlacami insecticide is composed of five different plants from the mint family. The materials and equipment that were used are not easy to find. Thus, we have no conflict with the materials. While conducting this science investigatory project, we encountered a few difficulties and problems to make this project possible. We made sure that our study will be presentable despite all failures and conflicts we have encountered. We are thankful that our product was good although we are a first-timer.
