Abstract

This study aimed to construct a miniature of the Skyway Fly-over Bridge to determine the materials to be utilized in constructing the Skyway Fly-over Bridge in terms of length, width, and pressure. This study also aimed to determine the procedures taken to construct the miniature, the experience, and the problems encountered in the process of constructing the Skyway Fly-over Bridge miniature. The findings were utilized as a guide for the successful construction of the Skyway Fly-over Bridge. This study found out that the materials in constructing the bridge are surely working and useful. The researchers conducted a floor plan and a template, which is important for the project. Next, the researchers formulated methods as a guide to the construction of the bridge. After the formulation of the methods, the researchers discussed and used several materials to determine the most suitable material for the project. The chosen materials were used to produce the bridge. When the product was done, the researchers surveyed the respondents using a questionnaire. The respondents included 15 4th-year Engineering students and 15 4th-year Architecture students. The collected data were processed using statistical tools and will be used to answer the statement of the problem. The two groups of respondents assessed the level of acceptability by using the Likert scale and obtained the results in terms of concepts, designs/procedures, feasibility, and overall project demonstration, The weighted means were 4.40 for 4th-year Civil Engineering students and 4.25 for 4th-year Architecture students, both of which were interpreted as highly acceptable. The results stated that the use of the correct material for constructing the miniature achieved the expectation. The data gathered showed that the difference between the assessment of the two groups of respondents in terms of the aforementioned variables was not significant. The study showed that the correct materials can achieve the expectation, such as the toughness and quality of the project. The results of the study also showed that the proper handling of funds, proper methods, and correct floor plans could lead to the success of the project. These findings are also connected to system dynamics as a model-based theory 2008 by Schwaninger and Grosser and to the development of design and theory of bridge structures in modern Japan by Isohata and Kida.
