THE INFLUENCE OF K-POP TO GRADE 11 HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES STUDENTS TO THEIR ACADEMIC WORK AT BESTLINK COLLEGE OF THE PHILIPPINES

A K-POP is a concise term for Korean Popular music. It represents a music style that originated in South Korea and has become a part of their culture. This genre is categorized into various styles such as: hip-hop, R&B, jazz, rock, etc. Furthermore, K-POP also exemplifies the art of dance. Consequently, the presence of K-pop has expanded globally, along with its impact on everyone whose interest is aroused. The study of The Influence of K-pop on Selected Grade 11 Humanities and Social Sciences students at Bestlink College in the Philippines seeks to challenge the stereotype surrounding K-pop, which is often viewed as a simple distraction, whereas it is actually a source of motivation and inspiration for students to excel in their studies. This research employs a Descriptive research method design. According to McCombes (2019), descriptive research seeks to accurately and systematically depict a population, situation, or phenomenon. It is capable of addressing what, where, when, and how inquiries, but not inquiries about why. A descriptive research design may utilize a diverse range of research methods to explore one or more variables. Through Convenience Sampling, the researcher has selected 30 participants from Grade 11 Humanities and Social Sciences students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. The researchers utilize a survey questionnaire as a research instrument to assess the Influence of K-pop on Grade 11 Humanities and Social Sciences students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. The research indicates that entertainment, inspiration, and diversity have impacted the academic work of the chosen Grade 11 humanities and social sciences students, with a total weighted mean of 3. 31. This is succeeded by time management, performance task, and the internet, with a total weighted mean of 3. 11. The impact of K-pop on Grade 11 Humanities and Social Sciences students at Bestlink College of the Philippines is clear in their time management, performance tasks, internet usage, and entertainment choices. Students consider K-pop to be an encouragement for achieving their goals, ensuring they fulfill school assignments, and participating actively in class discussions. They also regard K-pop as a wellspring of motivation, driving them to pursue excellence and nurturing a sense of community. Additionally, K-pop offers diversity, cultivating relationships with idols and fans, and establishing a global community that crosses national boundaries. In summary, K-pop plays a crucial role in influencing students' academic performance and overall well-being.
