Abstract

This study focuses on the development of a solar-powered automatic water sprinkler, designed to assist gardeners by automating and optimizing the watering process. The system ensures that plants receive the right amount of water at the right time, promoting efficient growth while reducing water waste caused by evaporation or inaccurate watering.  The sprinkler system distributes water through a network of pipes and sprinklers, delivering controlled watering directly to the roots. A key advantage of this system is its use of solar energy, making it a cost-effective and eco-friendly solution.  The Arduino Uno board serves as the system’s core, handling various tasks, from circuit board functions to supporting and connecting electronic components. This integration enhances the efficiency and reliability of the sprinkler system. The researchers used the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to define objectives and problems, implement plans, and monitor progress. They developed strategies, analyzed client data, and developed an automated method for their client.   They conducted seminars for potential users, examined the system for defects and errors, and maintained the output to ensure its proper functioning. The SDLC waterfall model was used to ensure successful and efficient project execution. The researchers found a solution for the client's problem of watering plants with the help of a solar-powered automatic water sprinkler. Instead of manually watering plants, the owner or gardener will just turn on the switch to sprinkle the water. It will also automatically stop because of the moisture sensor connected to the soil of the plants. It will reduce water waste because the sprinkler will automatically stop when it has enough water. Solar-powered automatic sprinkler systems harness the power of the sun to operate, making them eco-friendly and economical. These systems typically feature solar panels to soak up sunlight, battery storage to manage energy, and controllers to oversee watering based on set schedules or environmental cues.   A standout perk of controller-based solar water systems is their independence from the grid, making them ideal for remote areas or spots with limited energy access. Beyond conserving water by precisely delivering it to plants or grass according to their needs, these systems prevent wasteful overwatering or underwatering through efficient scheduling. They also streamline the user's experience by automating irrigation tasks.   In essence, solar-powered sprinkler systems lessen dependence on traditional energy sources while promoting sustainable watering practices.
