Abstract

The adoption of Learning Management Systems (LMS) in educational settings is becoming increasingly widespread, driven by advancements in digital technology and the pursuit of more effective learning experiences. At Bestlink College of the Philippines, this transition is particularly evident in the Grade 11 Humanities and Social Sciences program. This study explores the impact of LMS utilization on students’ academic performance and engagement, providing valuable insights into its effectiveness and implications for learning outcomes. Using a descriptive research design, data were collected from 150 Grade 11 Humanities and Social Sciences students through a survey questionnaire. The study employed a quota sampling method to ensure representation across various segments of the student population. The questionnaire covered challenges encountered in LMS utilization and students’ perceptions of its impact on academic performance and engagement. To analyze the data, statistical tools such as frequency and percentage distribution, ranking, mean, and the Likert scale were utilized. The findings provide valuable insights into various aspects of LMS utilization. Participants strongly emphasized the importance of a stable internet connection for academic success while acknowledging challenges related to system errors and limited access to necessary devices. Despite concerns regarding accessibility and navigation within the LMS platform, respondents reported improvements in their academic performance and increased engagement as a result of its use. The results highlight the transformative potential of LMS in enhancing academic performance and engagement among Grade 11 students. While challenges such as internet disruptions and system errors persist, the overall sentiment toward LMS utilization remains positive. Participants' strong agreement on the importance of a stable internet connection underscores the critical role of technological infrastructure in facilitating effective learning experiences. Additionally, their acknowledgment of challenges related to system errors and limited access to gadgets emphasizes the need for ongoing support and resources to optimize LMS usage. Despite these difficulties, respondents attributed improvements in academic performance and increased engagement to LMS utilization. These findings align with previous research, reinforcing the positive impact of technology-enhanced learning environments on student outcomes.
