Abstract

Computer laboratories are essential in educational institutions such as schools, colleges, and universities, providing support for teaching, learning, and research in computer-related fields. These labs offer hands-on training in software applications, programming languages, and digital tools, enhancing students' technical skills. Additionally, computer labs are widely used in research institutions for experiments, data analysis, and simulations. Beyond academia, they are also found in government agencies, businesses, and public facilities, serving as hubs for technological innovation, workforce training, and digital accessibility. This study utilized a quantitative-descriptive research design to examine the perspectives of Grade 12 Information and Communication Technology (ICT) students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. A simple random sampling technique was employed to select 70 respondents, and data was gathered through a face-to-face survey questionnaire to ensure accuracy and reliability. The data gathered was analyzed using a Likert scale, with response options of Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, and Strongly Disagree. The findings revealed that respondents strongly agreed on the proper usage of the computer laboratory, particularly regarding malfunction handling, maintenance, and internet connectivity, as indicated by an overall weighted mean of 3.46. Furthermore, respondents strongly agreed on the benefits of the computer laboratory in terms of multimedia learning, digital literacy, and learning opportunities, with the same overall weighted mean of 3.46. These results suggest a shared viewpoint among respondents, highlighting the significant impact of the computer laboratory on enhancing academic performance and supporting effective learning experiences. The findings of this study highlight that the proper usage of the computer laboratory significantly contributes to improving students' computer skills and overall performance. To further enhance computer literacy, it is recommended that students engage in training sessions or workshops. These programs will help students develop their skills and maximize their use of the computer laboratory. The results of this study can serve as a valuable reference for creating initiatives aimed at strengthening students' understanding and proficiency in computer laboratory usage.
