This study explored the effectiveness of group study as a strategy for enhancing mathematical skills in General Mathematics among Grade 11 GAS students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. According to Becton Loveless (2023), study groups serve as a highly effective learning method, promoting active engagement, cooperative learning, and improved problem-solving skills. The study aimed to provide insights into how group study can enhance students' academic performance and mathematical proficiency. To assess its effectiveness, students’ mathematical skills were evaluated using pretest and post-test assessments, with group study implemented as an intervention. The study utilized a one-group pre-test post-test pre-experimental research design, which does not involve a control group or the manipulation of an independent variable. A convenience sampling technique was employed to select 43 respondents based on their availability and accessibility. Data collection methods included a pre-test, post-test, and survey questionnaire to evaluate the effectiveness of group study in enhancing mathematical skills. The majority of respondents (86%) were aged 16-17, with males comprising the largest portion (63%). Most participants had an academic performance ranging from 83-88, representing 39% of the sample. Challenges encountered during group study included time management difficulties, distractions, lack of focus, communication barriers, scheduling conflicts, and a lack of confidence in expressing ideas. The pre-test and post-test results showed a significant improvement in scores after the intervention, confirming that group study is an effective strategy for enhancing students' mathematical skills in General Mathematics. The results indicated that time management was the most common challenge faced by respondents. Effective time management is crucial in group study sessions to ensure comprehensive coverage of all relevant topics within the allocated time. Inefficient time management can lead to rushed or incomplete studying, potentially leaving gaps in students' understanding of the subject matter.
