This study contributes to the growing field of leadership development in education by exploring the opportunities and challenges faced by Bachelor of Science in Education (BSED) students majoring in values education. It aims to enhance our understanding of leadership within the context of values education, guided by Cindy Love's (2020) definition of leadership as a process of motivation, guidance, and influence, with an emphasis on the human aspect. The research seeks to uncover how values education shapes leadership development and the specific obstacles and opportunities that these students encounter as they prepare to become future educators and leaders. The study utilized a phenomenological approach and cluster random sampling to gather data from ten second-year Bachelor of Science in Education (BSED) students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. The data analysis incorporated various statistical procedures, including weighted mean, composite weighted mean, ranking, frequency, percentage, and the Likert scale. These methods were employed to assess the students' experiences and perceptions, providing a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities and challenges they face in the context of values education and leadership development. The data revealed that 60% of the participants were female, and 80% of the respondents were within the 21-23 years age group, indicating a diverse age representation. A strong consensus emerged regarding the importance of intrapersonal leadership qualities, as reflected in a composite weighted mean of 3.52. Additionally, the assessment of key leadership attributes highlighted their crucial role in effective leadership, with a composite weighted mean of 3.47. These results underscore the significance of both intrapersonal leadership and fundamental leadership traits in the development of leadership skills among BSED students majoring in values education. The challenges faced by the participants underscored the importance of self-awareness, recognizing personal strengths and weaknesses, understanding the specifics of each situation, and considering all available resources when making leadership decisions. The study concludes with recommendations for improving leadership skills and addressing obstacles to benefit the educational organization. In summary, this research significantly contributes to the understanding of leadership development in education by emphasizing the human aspect of leadership within the context of values education. The study’s practical insights and focus on the difficulties encountered by BSED students enhance our understanding of effective leadership in educational settings.
