Abstract

Physical Education (PE) teachers often encounter challenges when instructing students with disabilities, highlighting a need for enhanced pedagogical strategies and comprehensive training.​  Challenges in Teaching Students with Disabilities:  Insufficient Training: A significant number of PE teachers feel inadequately prepared to teach students with disabilities. A study revealed that fewer than half of K-12 PE teachers utilize high-quality instructional practices, such as modified instructions or equipment, to accommodate these students. ​   Attitudinal Barriers: While many teachers hold moderately positive attitudes toward inclusion, there are variations based on gender, with female teachers generally displaying more favorable views than their male counterparts. ​  Environmental Factors: Creating an inclusive environment requires addressing factors like acceptability, affordability, adaptability, accessibility, and availability. A respectful and tolerant classroom climate is essential for facilitating the participation of students with disabilities. ​ In conducting this study, a descriptive quantitative research design was employed to systematically examine the challenges faced by Physical Education (PE) teachers instructing students with disabilities. Purposive sampling was utilized to select 35 PE teachers from Bestlink College of the Philippines, ensuring participants possessed relevant experience and insights pertinent to the research objectives.​  A researcher-developed survey questionnaire served as the primary data collection instrument.
