Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of enhanced learning modality strategies in improving the mathematics learning experience of second-year Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. The study aims to develop strategies that enhance students' learning efficiency and engagement in mathematics. The findings will serve as a basis for refining instructional methods to support better learning outcomes. A descriptive research method was employed, with 41 students selected through random sampling. The researchers developed a self-designed questionnaire validated by experts and subjected to a pilot test to ensure reliability. The validated questionnaire was then administered to the main respondents using a Likert scale. Statistical tools, including percentage, rank, and weighted mean, were utilized to analyze the collected data. Findings revealed that 90.24% (37) of respondents preferred face-to-face learning. For online learning, respondents identified access to a wide range of resources as the most effective factor influencing their mathematics learning, with a composite weighted mean of 3.59. In face-to-face learning, teacher-student interaction, increased motivation, and instant feedback were deemed most effective, with a composite weighted mean of 3.68. The study also found that 75.61% (32) of respondents cited time management issues as the main challenge in online learning, while 68.29% (28) identified traffic delays as the primary challenge in face-to-face learning. To enhance learning, the study recommends implementing guidelines that develop students’ skills within a constructivist learning framework. Teachers should emphasize effective strategies and instructional techniques to improve mathematics learning outcomes. Strengthening student engagement in both online and face-to-face modalities can further support their academic success.
