Abstract

This study emphasizes the importance of choosing a career path aligned with one's goals by considering values, interests, abilities, and aspirations. Effective decision-making can be enhanced through exploring various job options, researching different fields, and understanding market trends. These factors play a crucial role in shaping academic and career choices. It is essential to be critical when selecting a career to ensure long-term success and job satisfaction. Many students base their career choices on their passions and interests, highlighting the need to pursue a path that aligns with their strengths and ambitions for a more fulfilling and successful future. The purpose of this study is to assess the factors influencing career choices among selected Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. Specifically, it examines the impact of self-esteem, financial constraints, and changing interests on their decision-making. The study employs a quantitative research design, utilizing survey questionnaires to gather data from 150 selected Grade 12 HUMSS students. This study utilized a simple random sampling technique for data collection. The findings reveal that self-esteem received a mean score of 3.48, financial constraints 3.41, and changing interests 3.44, resulting in an overall mean score of 3.44, which falls under the "Strongly Agree" category for the first set of variables. Additionally, personal growth was rated at 3.46, career success at 3.41, and job security at 3.55, leading to an overall mean score of 3.41, also categorized as "Strongly Agree" for the second set of variables. The overall assessment of beneficial factors influencing career choices among respondents resulted in a mean score of 3.46. To ensure motivation and long-term fulfillment, choose a career path that aligns with your passions, interests, and values. Continuously enhance your skills and knowledge to remain competitive and advance in your chosen field. Engage in lifelong learning and professional development to adapt to industry demands. Seek guidance from career counselors or experienced professionals to gain valuable insights and advice that can help you make informed decisions and achieve success in your career.
