Abstract

Time management is a critical skill that enables individuals to effectively balance responsibilities across different areas of life. Guided by the Eisenhower Decision Matrix Theory, which categorizes tasks based on urgency and importance, this study aims to assess the effectiveness of time management in enhancing the productivity of working Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. The study seeks to determine how time management practices influence academic performance, study-work balance, and goal setting among student-workers. This research adopts a descriptive method and uses a survey questionnaire as the primary data collection tool. Thirty working Grade 12 HUMSS students were selected through purposive sampling. The questionnaire underwent expert validation and focused on assessing time management effectiveness in terms of academic performance, ability to balance work and study, goal-setting skills, techniques applied by students, and challenges encountered in managing time. Findings reveal that time management is perceived as very effective in improving students’ academic performance, facilitating goal setting, and achieving a balance between academic responsibilities and part-time work. Despite these positive outcomes, respondents reported facing various challenges, including difficulty in maintaining consistent schedules and managing overlapping commitments. The study concludes that time management strategies significantly contribute to the productivity and satisfaction of working students. However, obstacles in consistent implementation remain. To address these issues, the researchers propose an action plan aimed at enhancing students’ time management capabilities. The plan includes structured support strategies to further strengthen the academic success and well-being of working students at Bestlink College of the Philippines.
