Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the roots of food wastage at Oppa K-Grill in Camarin, Caloocan. Food waste refers to any food that has been eliminated from the food supply chain. It occurs due to production issues and other factors. "Waste" food is defined as food that is fit for consumption but is purposely discarded during the retail or consumption stages. Additionally, food waste includes any substance suitable for human consumption that is thrown away, regardless of whether it has surpassed its expiration date.

Wasted food is a significant indicator of environmental degradation, particularly in Western culture. Another fundamental issue is the injustice of large-scale food waste while many people struggle to afford basic meals. Addressing food waste is crucial in mitigating both environmental and social concerns. The research employs a quantitative design and involves 50 selected respondents. A descriptive research method is used to collect data. The researchers distributed the questionnaires using a random sampling technique. The results of the study show that customers agree that the kitchen equipment used is clean and sanitized. Customers are happy with the expertise of the kitchen staff in preparing food, but they are not fully satisfied with the time and budget. Additionally, customers agree on the safety and quality of the food. Provide complete and easy-to-use equipment, properly preserve food in storage, and maintain cleanliness. Implement a food waste tracker, conduct further research and inventory management, and plan and list seasonal targets and seasonal food.
