Abstract

Effective communication between teachers and students is essential for promoting meaningful interactions, enhancing the learning process, and enriching the overall educational experience for both educators and learners. Active student participation and the completion of tasks rely heavily on the quality of communication within the classroom. This research aims to analyze the role of teacher-student communication in influencing learning outcomes among Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. By examining current communication practices, this study seeks to offer insights into how teacher-student interactions affect academic performance and to provide recommendations for optimizing communication strategies to improve student outcomes and foster a more engaging learning environment. This study utilized a descriptive-quantitative research design to analyze the perspectives of the respondents. The participants included 150 Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences students from Bestlink College of the Philippines. Data were collected through a simple random sampling method, selecting students from six different sections. A survey questionnaire was used as the primary data collection tool, with the survey conducted through face-to-face interaction. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive categories, including "strongly agree," "agree," "disagree," and "strongly disagree," to provide a comprehensive assessment of how teacher-student communication impacts learning outcomes. The study findings indicate that Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences students perceive teacher-student communication, particularly in terms of language, engagement, and feedback, as highly impactful, with an overall weighted mean of 3.31. Additionally, the respondents recognize the positive influence of teacher-student communication on their learning outcomes, as reflected in an overall weighted mean of 3.37. These results underscore the critical role that effective communication plays in enhancing the educational experience and contributing to improved academic performance. This study underscores the significant role of teacher-student communication in fostering a positive learning environment. The findings highlight that effective communication contributes directly to enhanced learning outcomes and overall student engagement. Based on these results, an action plan has been proposed to further strengthen communication practices, with an emphasis on refining strategies, improving feedback mechanisms, and fostering a more collaborative classroom atmosphere. The insights gained from this research provide a solid foundation for future initiatives aimed at promoting continuous improvement in teacher-student interactions, ensuring that both educators and learners benefit from a more effective and supportive educational experience.
