This study examines the use of worksheets in teaching essay writing among Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. Its primary objective is to evaluate how worksheets are utilized in teaching essay writing and to assess students’ competency levels in writing. The study aims to improve student learning outcomes and enhance teaching strategies by focusing specifically on Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences students at Bestlink College. The researchers employed a non-probability sampling technique, specifically convenience sampling, to select respondents for the study. To assess the students’ understanding of various types of informative essays taught, the researchers used specially designed worksheets as the primary evaluation tool. The results showed that most students were aged 17–18, with an equal number of boys and girls. They demonstrated strong skills in clarity, originality, and time management but faced difficulties with essay conventions, organization, and grammar, particularly in analytical essays. A sample of students’ writing skills was assessed before and after completing the worksheet tasks. The data analysis provides theoretical and statistical evidence supporting the effectiveness of the instructional interventions used. However, challenges such as limited time, comprehension difficulties, network issues, and confusing content structure were also identified. These obstacles highlight the need for enhanced teaching methods and improved learning materials, including better-designed worksheets, to help students overcome these barriers and further develop their writing skills.
