Police visibility plays a crucial role in deterring crime and enhancing the sense of safety within communities. The effectiveness of police presence is especially important in areas with high crime rates or social instability, such as informal settlements. While police visibility alone may not completely eliminate criminal activities, it contributes significantly to crime prevention and public confidence when combined with strategic programs and community involvement. This study examines the effectiveness of police visibility in preventing crimes in Barangay Ugong, Valenzuela City. It aims to evaluate how police omnipresence impacts criminal behavior, promotes safety, and influences public perception of law enforcement. This study adopts a descriptive research design to assess the impact of police visibility on crime prevention in Barangay Ugong. A total of 50 respondents were selected through purposive sampling, consisting of barangay personnel, members of the Philippine National Police (PNP), and community residents. Data were gathered through survey questionnaires and face-to-face interactions. The collected data were analyzed using statistical tools such as frequency, percentage, ranking, and mean to interpret the respondents’ perceptions of the effectiveness of police visibility in terms of personnel deployment, operational procedures, and availability of equipment. The results indicate that the majority of respondents were male and aged 42 and above. Most participants assessed police visibility in the barangay as “Very Effective,” particularly in the areas of personnel, procedures, and equipment and materials. These findings suggest that the visible presence of law enforcement contributes to reduced fear of crime among residents and discourages potential offenders from engaging in unlawful acts. However, the study also identified issues such as limited manpower and insufficient funding, which hinder the consistent implementation of effective police visibility strategies. This study concludes that police visibility significantly enhances community security and public confidence by deterring criminal activity and promoting a safer environment. The presence of officers in public areas leads to increased vigilance and reduced opportunity for crime. However, to maximize its impact, law enforcement must address resource limitations and strengthen community engagement. The study recommends continuous improvement of patrol operations, increased funding, and collaboration between police and residents to ensure proactive and sustainable crime prevention efforts in Barangay Ugong.
