Abstract

Effective inventory management is crucial to the success of food and beverage businesses, as it ensures adequate stock levels, prevents losses, and supports smooth business operations. Poor inventory control can result in stockouts, overstocking, and increased operational costs. This study focuses on the inventory management practices of BigBrew in Novaliches, examining how stock monitoring, tracking systems, shortage management, supplier coordination, and cost-efficiency contribute to business performance. It also aims to identify the common challenges faced by employees and proposes strategies to improve inventory processes and overall operational efficiency. This study utilizes descriptive statistical methods namely frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, to evaluate the inventory management practices of BigBrew branches in Novaliches, Quezon City. As the research primarily aims to describe existing procedures and identify recurring issues, the use of inferential statistical techniques such as t-tests or correlation analysis is deemed unnecessary. The application of descriptive analysis ensures a comprehensive and systematic understanding of the data, offering meaningful insights that can guide improvements in inventory efficiency, cost control, and overall business performance. The study highlights significant inconsistencies in BigBrew’s inventory management due to varying staff experience levels across branches. Although basic inventory checks and employee training are implemented, the absence of standardized schedules and uniform protocols leads to operational inefficiencies. Diverse tracking methods contribute to frequent stock discrepancies, while persistent stock shortages occur despite established replenishment procedures and supplier communication. Cost control efforts are uneven, with some branches incurring losses from product spoilage and expiration. Supplier coordination exists but is often undermined by delivery delays and the lack of alternative vendors, disrupting overall workflow. These issues ranging from stockouts and overstocking to inefficiencies and inflated costs emphasize the urgent need for a more integrated inventory system, improved forecasting accuracy, streamlined supply chain processes, and strengthened supplier reliability to enhance operational performance and profitability. The findings indicate that although inventory management systems are implemented across BigBrew branches, inconsistent execution undermines their effectiveness, resulting in recurring issues such as stock shortages, overstocking, and elevated operational costs. These outcomes reinforce existing literature that links inadequate inventory control to diminished business performance. Nonetheless, the study’s limited scope characterized by a small sample size and the exclusive use of descriptive statistical tools constrains the depth and applicability of its conclusions. To strengthen future investigations, broader sampling and the integration of inferential statistical methods are recommended to examine correlations between inventory practices and key performance indicators. Ultimately, the study highlights the pressing need for standardized digital tracking systems, improved supplier reliability, and continuous staff training to streamline inventory operations and enhance overall organizational efficiency.
