Abstract

Social media plays a vital role in the daily lives of senior high school students, underscoring the need to emphasize social media netiquette as platforms and user behaviors continuously evolve. This study explores students’ awareness of appropriate digital conduct, privacy issues, and the influence of their online interactions. It also highlights the advantages of social media through the lens of the Social Media Integration Theory, particularly how peer-to-peer communication fosters stronger brand engagement and interaction. This research specifically investigates the importance of social media netiquette among Grade 11 Humanities and Social Sciences students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. This study employs a descriptive quantitative approach, utilizing cluster sampling and survey questionnaires to gather data on students' perceptions of their social media behavior. The results will provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of current social media netiquette practices and guide recommendations for enhancing digital conduct among students. This summary effectively encapsulates the core findings of the research. The focus on courtesy, privacy, authenticity, and communication skills highlights crucial elements for creating a respectful and secure digital environment. The proposed action plan outlines concrete strategies to combat issues like cyberbullying and misinformation, while emphasizing the importance of educational programs that cultivate digital responsibility and empower users to engage thoughtfully online. This study reviews social media netiquette with a focus on key principles such as courtesy, politeness, accuracy, communication skills, authenticity, and privacy. It highlights the necessity of fostering positive online behavior and adopting strategies to improve digital etiquette. Findings indicate that 22.75% of students experience challenges with oversharing. To combat issues like cyberbullying, the study proposes guidelines and recommends an action plan aimed at encouraging respectful and responsible interactions on social media platforms.
