Abstract

Social Media has a huge influence on everyone’s life in this generation. One of the number
one consumers or users of social media is adolescents. The study aims to determine how
social media influences the development of moral standards and values and what the
challenges faced by adolescents in this development process are. The study will analyze their
development in terms of moral standards.

The study revealed that there were significant changes in their moral standards that were
developed throughout the time that they were using social media. It also shows that
adolescents can't be easily influenced by what they see and read on social media. Thus, the
results reveal that even though youths are exposed to social media and its content, they can
manage to develop their moral standards in the right way by choosing the right content in
social media.

The researchers recommend that social media creators should create more content that can
be beneficial in enhancing individual development in terms of Moral Standards and Values
and Cognitive Development. We also recommend that adults who are using social media as
well create a healthy environment in social media to be more developmental friendly to young
adolescents.
