Google as a Source of Educational Information of Senior High School Students: An Assessment

Abstract

As we are living in the 21st century, where technologies are dominating, Google is one of the
most used search engines in our world today. Many educational websites help students
provide educational content, expand their knowledge, and improve their quality of life, but
some websites are not reliable enough and provide misleading information to students who
use Google to acquire educational information. The researchers conducted this study to
assess that Google can become a source of educational information for senior high school
students, especially for their academic tasks.

The grade 12 senior high school students of Bestlink College of the Philippines – Bulacan Inc.
assess Google as a source of educational information. 100% of the students show they are
utilizing Google as their source of information regarding their education. 64% of the students
are satisfied with the information they acquire on Google. In terms of academic tasks, 90% of
the students say they use Google to get information to fulfill their assignments.

The results of problems 1, 2, and 3 indicate that the grade 12 senior high school students of
Bestlink College of the Philippines – Bulacan Inc. utilize Google as a source of their
educational information. The students are satisfied with the authenticity and credibility of the
educational information they gathered on Google. Thus, Google significantly helps each grade
12 student at Bestlink College of the Philippines – Bulacan Inc. in their academic tasks as well
as the knowledge for their education and broadening their understanding and learning.
