Effectiveness of Using Motivational Activities to Improve the Academic Performance of Grade 12 ABM Students

This research topic focused on the level of effectiveness of using motivational activities to improve the academic performance of Grade 12 Accountancy, Business, and Management students in Bestlink College of the Philippines during the school year 2019–2020. The researchers chose this topic because they want to know the effectiveness of using motivational activities. The purpose of this research was to improve the students’ performance for students to obtain passing grades, especially with their major subjects. Using motivational activities inside the classroom may stimulate the students’ desire to participate in the learning process. Something should propel the mind of the students to make them more vibrant and active. Research design is a scientific methods that involves observing and describing the behavior of a subject without influencing it in any way. This study used the survey method because it is the most appropriate means of gathering data that will be used in this research. The survey method is a field of applied statistics of human research surveys and studies the sampling of individual units from a population and associated techniques of survey data collection. The researchers used convenience sampling because the respondents were chosen based on their availability. Based on the findings of this study, classroom-based motivational activities may improve the following: (1) self-confidence (students will have self-confidence after doing the motivational activities as it will help them to participate in class together with their classmates), (2) communication skills (motivational activities may help the students to communicate with their classmates and enhance their relationship among each other), and (3) productivity (using motivational activities may help the students to be productive because they will be able to have participation with the teaching-learning process). Students are recommended to be more interested and active when it comes to their studies for them to obtain passing grades. Using this action research will improve the students’ academic performance. Students should be taught using motivational activities to catch their attention and increase their willingness, thereby making everyone aware of the effects of motivational activities.
