Abstract

Traffic is one of the major problems in the Philippines especially during rush hours in urban areas, which causes inconvenience and delay on rendezvous. One of the solutions that the government proposed to lessen the traffic congestion is putting up a cable car system as an alternative way of transportation. Therefore, the researchers decided to take a cable car miniature to determine its capability. Quantitative-experimental research was mainly used by the researchers as a research design for conducting the said study and utilized purposive sampling to select by 5 electrical engineers and 15 Civil Engineering students of Bulacan State University to assess the level of acceptability of the cable car miniature in terms of materials used, procedural methodology, seating capacity, feasibility, remoteness, mechanism, and presentation. A survey questionnaire was used in the study to collect data from the two groups of respondents. Materials used, the template of the floorplan, and the execution of the procedures was performed to construct the cable car miniature. The result of this study was acceptable. Therefore, the difference between the assessments of the two groups of respondents in terms of the aforementioned variables is not significant. Engineers obtained an overall weighted mean of 2.83, which was interpreted as acceptable with a variance of 0.2446, while Civil Engineering students obtained an overall weighted mean of 2.72, which was interpreted as acceptable with a variance of 0.0702. Both groups of respondents had a t-computed value of 0.0458 and a degree of freedom of 18, with a value of 2.681. The t-computed value was greater than the t-critical one. As a result, the assessments of the group of respondents are acceptable. The following are the results and conclusion of the two groups of respondents: focus on constructing and further developing the mechanisms; use batteries/power sources that can maintain the appropriate speed of the cable car and run other mechanisms that are presented on the miniature; and refer to different designs, laws guidelines, and construction codes that apply to the miniature.
