Abstract

The Bureau of Fire Protection has been instrumental in ensuring the safety of lives and property during fire emergencies and other critical situations. With the growth of urban areas, there has been an increasing need for prompt and efficient emergency response services. This study evaluated the satisfaction levels of residents regarding the emergency response provided by the Bureau of Fire Protection in Barangay Malinta, Valenzuela City. It focused on the demographic profiles of the respondents, their assessments of satisfaction concerning response times, resource availability, community involvement, communication and information dissemination, as well as the professionalism and competence of firefighters. Additionally, the study identified challenges faced by respondents related to these factors during emergency responses, with the aim of proposing solutions to enhance the emergency response capabilities of the Bureau of Fire Protection in Barangay Malinta, Valenzuela City. This research employed a quantitative methodology to collect data from the selected participants. A descriptive research design was implemented to characterize, observe, and evaluate the residents' satisfaction levels regarding the emergency response provided by the Bureau of Fire Protection in Barangay Malinta, Valenzuela City. The purposive sampling technique was utilized to identify fifty (50) community residents, which included forty-five (45) individuals residing in the area and five (5) barangay officials. Additionally, the researchers used a survey questionnaire to obtain data for the study, actively engaging with the respondents and personally inviting them to participate. Once the respondents completed the survey questionnaires, the researchers collected the instruments for analysis. The research indicated that the residents expressed a remarkably high level of satisfaction with the emergency response provided by the BFP, as evidenced by the respondents' overall rating of Very Satisfied across various indicators. Nevertheless, certain indicators received ratings of Satisfied and Dissatisfied; however, these did not significantly impact the overall rating, given that the majority of respondents reported being Very Satisfied. The timeliness and efficiency of the Bureau of Fire Protection's response efforts either met or surpassed the expectations of community members. It is recommended that the Bureau of Fire Protection consider this study as a proposed measure for enhancing emergency response and services, and for future researchers to build upon, contribute to, and utilize as a reference for subsequent studies.
