Effects of Being Classroom Officers on Academic Performance of HUMSS Strand Students in Bestlink College of the Philippines: Basis for a Proposed Intervention Program

Abstract

This study talked about how students perform their responsibilities to lead a class. This study also described a mayor-vice mayor situation. While doing their responsibilities as class officers, students need to do be responsible in their class. Class officers keep their classrooms running smoothly for the whole class to have good interactions/communication. The researchers used a descriptive research method to determine the effects of being class officers on the students’ academic performance in Bestlink College of the Philippines. The researchers recommended the following. Student classroom officers should assist their class advisers to maintain the discipline of the whole class. The time for class and time for responsibilities should be separated. The problems encountered by class officers in terms of management included finishing their activities on time to prevent hassle or rush or separate class hour and their duties. The benefits of class officers included the appreciation from families of their classmates. The researchers concluded that their perceptions and what they observed was the same. The researchers recommended the effects of being class officers on their academic performance in Bestlink College of the Philippines. This proposed intervention program should improve the class officers’ responsibilities, especially in terms of strategies, time management, and family for their assigned jobs.
