Abstract

Diversity among student populations is a major topic to consider in today's academic environment in order to establish a more equal and productive learning environment for students. It is now more important than ever to examine and understand their different backgrounds, experiences, and needs. This diversity helps students develop their confidence and skills. The researchers conducted this study to determine the effects of student diversity on selected Grade 11 Humanities and Social Sciences students at Bestlink College of the Philippines, Millionaires Village Campus, Barangay San Agustin, Novaliches, Quezon City. This research will benefit students, teachers, parents, school administration, researchers, and future studies. The study uses a descriptive quantitative research design and a simple random sampling technique, involving 219 Grade 11 Humanities and Social Sciences students from Bestlink College of the Philippines. The researchers used a questionnaire as a data collection tool, and the statistical tools employed include frequency and percentage, weighted mean, ranking, and Slovin’s formula to calculate the sample size from the population. Based on the results, the effects of student diversity in terms of class participation, native language, and culture were observed. Additionally, the effects of student diversity are beneficial to the respondents. Based on the summary of the findings, Grade 11 Humanities and Social Sciences students strongly agreed that student diversity impacts class participation, native language, and culture. They also agreed that student diversity benefits the respondents. Furthermore, an action plan is proposed to address the effects of student diversity.  As a result of the conclusions, it is recommended that students implement diversity education, include diverse voices in learning activities, and support student-organized initiatives to promote a more inclusive and diverse campus culture.
