Abstract

In the realm of Philippine legislation, Republic Act 11053, known as the Anti-Hazing Law, stands as a pivotal milestone in the pursuit of safer and more responsible fraternity practices. Enacted in 2018, this law was designed to curb the longstanding issue of hazing within fraternities and sororities, which had claimed countless lives and left indelible scars on survivors. The researchers used qualitative research to identify the effects of Republic Act 11053, the Anti-Hazing Law, among selected fraternities in Holy Spirit, Quezon City. The respondents of the study will be fifty (50) respondents: 15 from Tau Gamma, 15 from Akhro, totaling 30 members of fraternities, and 20 PNP personnel. Based on the collected data, the majority of members of the chosen fraternity were between the ages of 18 and 25, with a frequency of 19, or 63.3%. Regarding the PNP, male respondents made up the largest percentage of responders, with 11, or 55%. Among the two groups of respondents in the chosen fraternity, male respondents had the largest frequency, with 25 respondents, or 41.65%. Female respondents had the lowest frequency, with 5, or 8.35% of all respondents. Regarding the PNP, male respondents made up the largest percentage of responders, with 11, or 55%. Out of the three groups of respondents, single respondents had the highest frequency in the specified fraternity, with 26 respondents, or 86.7%. Regarding the PNP, single respondents had the highest frequency, with 9 respondents, or 45%. The statement "Lack of Awareness: Many individuals, including fraternity members, might not be fully aware of the provisions and implications of Republic Act 11053" had the highest weighted mean score of 3.90 for PNP and 3.83 for the chosen fraternity. The following actions can be suggested to improve the execution of Republic Act 11053 among particular fraternities, based on the issues raised by the respondents. The researchers advise the fraternity and organization to hold frequent seminars for all leaders and members to increase knowledge of Republic Act 11053 and shield people from becoming victims of violent hazing. By educating members about their roles and responsibilities within the fraternity and helping them handle hazing incidents better, this would improve the execution of the Republic Act and eventually help members become responsible members of the fraternity.
