Abstract

This study aims to explore the practices and perceptions of employees regarding communication privacy management within the organization. It seeks to investigate how employees handle confidential information, the tools and methods they use to communicate securely, and their understanding of data protection policies and procedures. By gaining insights into these aspects, the research aims to identify gaps in knowledge, potential areas of risk, and opportunities for improvement. To assess communication privacy management at Unisys Managed Services Corporation, a mixed-methods approach was employed. Quantitative data were collected through surveys distributed to a sample of 33 employees, measuring their perceptions of privacy policies, boundaries, control, rule-based management, and cybersecurity risks. Qualitative insights were obtained through in-depth interviews and focus groups with key stakeholders, providing a more nuanced understanding of employee experiences and attitudes. The data analysis focused on identifying trends and areas for improvement in the organization's communication privacy practices, with the goal of informing strategies to enhance data protection. The overall results indicate a positive perception of Unisys's communication privacy management. The findings show that the company has well-established privacy policies and practices, scoring a strong 3.3 on the weighted mean, with employees agreeing that Unisys effectively communicates these policies. Privacy boundaries and control mechanisms are perceived as adequate, with similar scores indicating employee confidence in these areas. Additionally, rule-based management and management dynamics received favorable ratings, suggesting that employees are aware of and adhere to the established privacy rules, and that communication strategies effectively bridge gaps across different management levels. Employees generally view Unisys's privacy policies and rules as effective, feeling secure and in control of their personal data. However, the study identified gaps, notably in human error and unauthorized access, which are among the leading cybersecurity risks. Despite a solid foundation for data protection, Unisys can further improve by increasing employee awareness and reinforcing specific security measures. These findings offer a clear direction for targeted enhancements to strengthen the company's communication privacy management.
