Abstract

In today's fast-paced and competitive business environment, sustainability has become a crucial focus for organizations. Effective operations management plays a key role in achieving sustainability by optimizing processes, reducing waste, and enhancing efficiency. This study examines the operational management of Big Brew in Novaliches, Quezon City, evaluating its impact on sustainability in terms of environmental, social, and long-term business success. A survey-based approach was employed to assess the effectiveness of Big Brew’s operations management in achieving sustainability. The study focused on four key management functions: planning, which involves establishing clear objectives to guide business growth in response to external influences; commanding, which ensures strong leadership and communication to align with the company's strategy, vision, and mission; coordinating, which fosters long-term thinking among employees to support sustainable business practices; and controlling, which maintains operational excellence through oversight and performance evaluation. The findings indicate that Big Brew's operations management is generally sustainable, particularly in its interactions with suppliers and in the areas of planning, organization, coordination, and oversight. However, respondents identified key challenges, including limited seating capacity at 31.95%, long wait times for accommodation at 25%, and slow service at 11.11%. The study highlights the importance of quality management in maintaining high service standards. Employee capability is emphasized as a crucial factor in ensuring that staff members are assigned roles suited to their skills, leading to improved product and service quality. Additionally, a structured quality checklist aligned with Big Brew’s objectives and customer expectations helps maintain service excellence. The study also underscores the significance of inventory management in meeting customer demand efficiently. Overall, the findings demonstrate that a strong understanding of operations management principles can drive sustainable business practices and long-term success.
