Understanding the factors influencing the motivation of Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) Grade 12 students to engage with Philippine literature is essential for fostering a deeper appreciation of the nation's cultural heritage. This study aims to explore these factors by examining students' motivations, interests, and perceptions regarding local literary works. This study employs a quantitative research design, specifically a descriptive-correlational field survey, to examine the factors influencing the motivation of Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) Grade 12 students at [Institution Name] to engage with Philippine literature. Engaging Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) Grade 12 students with Philippine literature is crucial for enhancing their reading proficiency and cultural awareness. Understanding and addressing the factors that influence their motivation to read can significantly impact their academic performance and appreciation for their cultural heritage. Motivation plays a pivotal role in students' engagement with various literary works. Understanding the factors that influence the motivation of Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) Grade 12 learners to read Philippine literature is essential for educators, curriculum developers, and policymakers aiming to enhance teaching and learning strategies in this field. A study by Natividad and Tangalin (2023) investigated the impact of reading motivation and home literacy environment on information literacy skills among selected HUMSS students in Tanza. The research highlighted that motivation is a crucial element influencing reading comprehension, and a supportive home environment significantly contributes to students' motivation, self-efficacy, and reading abilities. These findings underscore the importance of fostering motivation and providing a conducive home literacy environment to enhance students' engagement with literature.
