Abstract

Communication in an educational setting plays a crucial role in developing students' personalities and skills. However, learning also occurs in non-academic environments, shaping personal growth and enhancing abilities. Engaging in communication with others fosters problem awareness, improves comprehension, and enables individuals to make informed decisions that impact their daily lives and communities. Additionally, students must actively participate in the community to develop better behavior. Since interpersonal communication significantly influences personality development, it may also affect students' communication behavior by promoting both personal and community growth. This study aims to determine how interactions with various individuals influence the communication behavior of Grade 11 Humanities and Social Sciences students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. A quantitative analytic research approach using quota sampling was employed, with data collected from 150 students. Survey questionnaires were utilized as the primary data collection instrument. Findings indicate that respondents agree on issues related to students’ communication behavior, particularly in terms of privacy concerns, language barriers, and security. Additionally, respondents strongly agree that communication behavior provides benefits such as improved communication skills, increased inspiration, and enhanced credibility. The results highlight that communication skills are the most highly rated benefit of community participation in students' behavioral improvement. Conversely, safety and security concerns are the most frequently encountered challenges. Based on these findings, the researchers provide recommendations for enhancing students’ communication behavior while addressing the identified challenges.
