IMPLICATIONS OF SHARED MEMES ON THE PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING AMONG THE STUDENTS IN BESTLINK COLLEGE OF THE PHILIPPINES: A PROPOSED INTERVENTION PROGRAM FOR MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS

Networking sites, as products of modern technology, have captured the hearts of many users. Similarly, memes have become a popular form of entertainment and amusement. People find memes funny and relatable because they joke about circumstances, conditions, individuals, events, and other cultural or social elements. This study explores the psychological implications of shared memes among students at Bestlink College of the Philippines. The study involved 100 students from Bestlink College of the Philippines as respondents. A quantitative research approach was utilized, employing a survey questionnaire to examine the implications of shared memes on students’ psychological well-being. Findings indicate that respondents strongly agree that they use memes to express their thoughts (weighted mean: 3.26), share memes to motivate others (3.1), and use shared memes to connect with others (3.20). However, misinterpretation of shared memes was also noted (3.15). These results suggest that sharing memes generally has a positive impact on psychological well-being by fostering expression, motivation, and social connection. The study reveals that students regularly share memes on social media as a means of expressing their emotions and thoughts, contributing positively to their psychological well-being. Additionally, memes serve as a medium for connection and motivation. However, shared memes may also lead to negative emotions when misinterpreted, potentially affecting psychological well-being.
