IMPACT OF ANTI-ILLEGAL DRUG CAMPAIGN IN BARANGAY 167 LLANO ROAD CALOOCAN CITY

Abstract

The Anti-Illegal Drug Campaign, also known as the "War on Drugs," aims to encourage people to take action against drug abuse. Drug abuse remains one of the most pressing issues in society, with its illegal use spreading nationwide. It primarily affects individuals experiencing stress and personal struggles, particularly minors who lack awareness of the harmful effects of illicit drugs. These campaigns emphasize the importance of prevention and early intervention to curb drug-related issues. This study employed a descriptive survey research design to analyze data regarding the impact of the anti-illegal drug campaign. The study described and interpreted various characteristics of the population, including sampling procedures, research instruments, validity and reliability of instruments, data collection procedures, data analysis techniques, and ethical considerations. The respondents included 60 individuals from Barangay 167 Llano Road, Caloocan City, comprising 40 residents, 10 barangay officials, and 10 police officers. The respondents, primarily male, ranged in age from 25 to 30 years old, with most being single. The anti-illegal drug campaign in Barangay 167 was rated as "Very Good" in providing information, suppressing illegal activities, and offering community support for crime prevention. However, several challenges were identified: some individuals showed disinterest in reading information about drug risks, illegal drug manufacturers designed drugs in appealing forms to attract users, and community members feared reporting suspicious activities. To address these challenges, three recommendations were proposed. First, for the information campaign, materials should be factual and concise to capture the community's interest. Second, concerns about human rights violations in the suppression of illegal activities should be acknowledged to prevent conflicts between authorities and residents. Lastly, in terms of community support, fostering mutual respect and clear communication is essential for campaign success. Based on the gathered data and conclusions, these recommendations are suggested to enhance the effectiveness of the anti-illegal drug campaign.
