EFFECTIVENESS OF TIKTOK AS LEARNING RESOURCES IN MATHEMATICS TO THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF GRADE 6 STUDENTS

This research study aims to determine the effectiveness of TikTok as a learning resource in Mathematics and its impact on the academic performance of Grade 6 students at Tandang Sora Elementary School for the academic year 2023-2024. Conducted using a non-experimental quantitative research approach, the study delved into the relationship between utilizing TikTok for learning and the academic progress of Grade 6 students in Mathematics. A total of 77 students participated in the study through a quota sampling technique, responding to a survey questionnaire. Findings, derived from percentage calculations and weighted averages, pointed to weaknesses in students' comprehension, underscoring the importance of refining teaching methodologies. These outcomes highlight the necessity for interventions and enhanced instructional techniques to elevate academic performance in Mathematics among Grade 6 students. The study revealed that TikTok was an effective learning resource for Mathematics, especially for male students aged 11 to 13, with satisfactory academic performance in the subject based on tests and assessments. These outcomes underscore TikTok's potential in enhancing students' understanding and success in Mathematics. Educators can harness TikTok's interactive features to create engaging content, thereby improving the learning experience. This research emphasizes the positive influence of digital platforms such as TikTok in education, showcasing their capacity to enhance student engagement and academic success in Mathematics. The study presented compelling evidence linking the use of TikTok as a learning resource to positive outcomes in motivation, mathematical abilities, and problem-solving skills. These results underscore the significant advantages of integrating TikTok into education. Moreover, the research revealed a positive correlation between TikTok's effectiveness as a learning tool and students' attitudes toward it, suggesting that when students perceive TikTok as useful for learning, they are more likely to engage with it and achieve positive results. This implies that students using TikTok for math learning tend to enhance their mathematical skills and cognitive processes. In conclusion, these findings underscore TikTok's potential as a valuable resource for enhancing motivation, mathematical proficiency, problem-solving abilities, and overall academic performance in Mathematics.
