Abstract

Republic Act 9262, commonly known as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004, is a significant milestone in Philippine legislation, aimed at protecting women and children from domestic violence and abuse. The Women and Children Concern Section (WCCS) is responsible for receiving complaints, conducting investigations, assisting victims in obtaining protection orders, and guiding them through legal procedures. The effectiveness of RA 9262 depends on the capability and dedication of law enforcement officers to handle domestic violence cases efficiently. Violence against women remains one of the most persistent social issues in the country. The study employed a descriptive research method to ensure validity and reliability. Using purposive sampling, the researchers selected forty (40) Barangay employees and five (5) police officers from Police Station 4 in Novaliches Proper, Quezon City, totaling forty-five (45) respondents. Data collection was conducted through a researcher-made survey questionnaire, with respondents personally engaged and given the option to participate. The gathered data was analyzed, leading to conclusions and recommendations to address challenges faced by WCCS personnel in implementing RA 9262. Findings indicate that respondents strongly agreed on the effectiveness of WCCS in implementing RA 9262 at Police Station 4 in Novaliches Proper, Quezon City. Respondents affirmed that WCCS personnel fulfill their duties efficiently, reinforcing the law's implementation. The study also identified measures to address challenges encountered in enforcing RA 9262, further enhancing WCCS operations. The results highlight that respondents acknowledge the effectiveness of WCCS in implementing RA 9262. The study recommends that police officers and barangay employees receive further training to enhance their understanding and execution of RA 9262. Additionally, the researchers propose an intervention program aimed at improving strategies and plans for more effective implementation of the law.
