Abstract

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is responsible for the oversight and coordination of traffic management in Commonwealth, Quezon City. This encompasses the implementation of traffic control strategies, strict enforcement of traffic laws, and upkeep of road infrastructure. Efficient traffic management is vital not only for facilitating daily commutes but also for ensuring that emergency response services are not impeded. This study utilized a quantitative descriptive research design to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the MMDA Traffic Management Program in alleviating traffic congestion along Commonwealth, Quezon City. Data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to a purposively selected sample consisting of ten (10) MMDA personnel, twenty (20) drivers, and twenty (20) commuters within the area. This approach allowed for targeted insights from key stakeholders directly involved in or affected by the traffic management efforts. Among the assessed factors, Land Management received the highest weighted mean for Infrastructure at 3.56, indicating strong agreement. Within Traffic Systems, CCTV Cameras scored highest with a mean of 3.51, while Data Collection led in Traffic Technology with a mean of 3.53. For Traffic Discipline, Commuters also achieved a weighted mean of 3.53, all reflecting strong agreement from respondents. The most pressing issue identified was “road accidents resulting from traffic conditions,” ranked as the top concern. Conversely, the least prioritized proposed solution was the enhancement and expansion of traffic signals, signage, and other traffic technologies on roads and highways. Launch a comprehensive public awareness campaign aimed at educating the community on traffic regulations and promoting safety among both drivers and commuters. Furthermore, establish efficient and well-coordinated traffic management systems to ensure smoother and safer road usage for all.
