ASSESSMENT ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF SECURITY MEASURES IMPLEMENTED BY THE NORTH FAIRVIEW HIGH SCHOOL

Abstract

This study assesses the effectiveness of security measures implemented at North Fairview High School. It aims to determine how the school ensures student safety and prevents crime both inside and outside the institution. A secure school environment allows students to feel more comfortable and engaged in their studies. This research highlights the importance of proper security measures and their role in crime prevention within the school premises. The study focuses on evaluating the security measures at North Fairview High School, involving 5 security personnel, 50 high school students, and 25 teachers from the academic year 2023-2024. Respondents were categorized based on their roles within the school, considering factors such as age, gender, and educational attainment. The majority of respondents were aged 11-25 years old (50 respondents, 62.5%), followed by those aged 42-50 (17 respondents, 21.5%), 26-33 (6 respondents, 7.5%), and 50 and above (4 respondents, 5%). The total number of respondents was 80. The effectiveness of security measures was assessed through key indicators. CCTV cameras, which contribute to safety and crime prevention, received a weighted mean of 3.58, interpreted as "Strongly Agree." Similarly, security personnel patrolling the school for safety also had a weighted mean of 3.58, with the same interpretation. CCTV cameras play a crucial role in maintaining school security, but their effectiveness depends on proper installation and integration with other safety measures. Developing emergency protocols for situations like lockdowns and natural disasters is essential for a well-coordinated response. Additionally, the presence of security personnel patrolling the school enhances student safety, reinforcing the need for a visible security presence on campus.
