Abstract

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the crime prevention program for the protection of children amid rising trends in juvenile delinquency, social and economic challenges, and issues such as inadequate intervention strategies and insufficient community involvement. It focused on addressing high recidivism rates and the lack of rehabilitation facilities while proposing comprehensive solutions, including holistic preventive measures, community-based initiatives, and improved rehabilitation facilities. The study seeks to guide policymakers and stakeholders in enhancing the system and promoting the successful reintegration of youth offenders into society. The researchers utilized a survey questionnaire and a purposive sampling technique. The study involved ten (10) Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC) members, twenty (20) Barangay Employees, and twenty (20) randomly selected parents from Barangay Kaligayahan, Novaliches, Quezon City. The study revealed that 75% of the respondents were female and 25% were male. The majority of respondents were females aged 34 to 41 years old residing in Barangay Kaligayahan, Novaliches, Quezon City. The assessment of the crime prevention program in terms of educational programs, spiritual programs, and parent-child interaction was interpreted as excellent. Based on the gathered data, the researchers recommend strengthening crime prevention programs in Barangay Kaligayahan, Novaliches, and Quezon City to address shortcomings and enhance child protection efforts. First, training and capacity-building initiatives should be provided to BCPC members, Barangay Employees, and Parents to improve their skills in handling child-related issues. Second, educational programs should be enhanced by incorporating age-appropriate content on boundaries and online safety. Third, inclusivity should be ensured in spiritual activities to accommodate diverse beliefs and prevent stigmatization. Lastly, barriers to parent-child interaction, such as busy schedules, should be addressed by offering flexible scheduling options and support for families in need of assistance.
