Abstract

This survey research was conducted to evaluate road rage incidents along Quirino Highway, Quezon City. It examines the psychological, social, and environmental factors contributing to aggressive driving behavior. The study aims to provide a deeper understanding of road rage and its impact on drivers, helping to identify potential solutions for safer road interactions. The study will engage 30 drivers and 20 traffic enforcers as participants. To ensure accurate and comprehensive responses, the researchers will assist respondents in properly completing the questionnaire. The purposive sampling technique will be employed to strategically select participants, ensuring the relevance of the collected data. Utilizing a descriptive quantitative research design, this study will focus on gathering and analyzing numerical data to generate valuable statistical insights. Strict Traffic Law Enforcement – Strengthen the implementation of traffic regulations and impose harsher penalties for reckless and aggressive driving.

De-escalation Training for Traffic Enforcers – Equip enforcers with effective communication techniques, such as active listening and conflict resolution, to manage tense situations.

Encouraging Incident Reporting – Promote safer responses by urging drivers to avoid confrontations and report road rage incidents to authorities instead.

Increased Police Visibility – Deploy more officers in high-risk areas to deter aggressive behavior and ensure quick intervention.

Mental Health and Counseling Support – Provide psychological support and counseling services for individuals affected by road rage, whether as victims or aggressors.

Rapid Incident Response Protocols – Develop a fast and efficient system for handling and resolving road rage situations to minimize escalation.

Strengthened Interagency Collaboration – Foster cooperation between law enforcement, local governments, and community organizations to address road safety issues comprehensively.

Community-Based Watch Programs – Establish neighborhood initiatives that encourage drivers and residents to report aggressive driving behavior.

Public Awareness Campaigns – Conduct educational programs on anger management, responsible driving, and the dangers of road rage.

Comprehensive Victim Assistance – Provide trauma-informed care, legal guidance, and emotional support for individuals impacted by road rage incidents.

Implementing these strategies will help create a safer driving environment by promoting responsible behavior, reducing road rage incidents, and fostering community engagement in road safety. Strategies to Reduce Road Rage on Quirino Highway, Quezon City

To minimize road rage incidents and promote safer driving conditions, the following measures can be implemented:

 

1. Strengthen Traffic Law Enforcement

Enforce stricter penalties for aggressive driving and road rage-related offenses.

Deploy more traffic enforcers and law enforcement officers in high-risk areas.

Install CCTV cameras to monitor reckless driving and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.

2. Improve Driver Education and Awareness

Conduct road safety and anger management seminars for public and private drivers.

Integrate road rage prevention training into driving school programs.

Launch educational campaigns promoting patience and responsible driving behavior.

3. Enhance Traffic Management and Infrastructure

Alleviate congestion by optimizing road layouts and implementing better traffic control measures.

Improve signage and traffic signals to prevent confusion and frustration among motorists.

Establish designated lanes and loading/unloading zones to reduce unnecessary stops and delays.

4. Promote Mental and Emotional Well-being Among Drivers

Offer stress management and emotional regulation programs for professional drivers.

Provide accessible counseling and mental health support for individuals affected by road rage.

Encourage transport companies to implement wellness initiatives for drivers to reduce stress and burnout.

5. Strengthen Community and Government Collaboration

Create a Road Safety Task Force involving law enforcement, transport groups, and local officials.

Encourage motorists to report aggressive driving behaviors through a dedicated hotline.

Organize community forums to address road safety concerns and promote conflict resolution.

Implementing these measures will help create a safer, more disciplined driving environment on Quirino Highway, Quezon City, significantly reducing road rage incidents and fostering a culture of responsible driving.
