Advantages of Work Immersion to Personality Development of Selected Grade 12 Students at Bestlink College of the Philippines,S.Y.2019–2020

Abstract

Work immersion is one of the course requirements for graduation. A senior high school student has to undergo work immersion to prepare them to meet the needs and challenges of employment or higher education after graduation. To give students an avenue to improve themselves by experiencing the real world, work immersion must be first-hand to help students acquire knowledge and experience that can help them grow as individuals. The quantitative–descriptive method was used in this study. A total of 50 General Academic Strand students were involved in this study as respondents to assess the advantages of work immersion to their personality development. The results of this study showed that 4.09% and 4.03% of the respondents strongly agreed that social skills can develop their personality in Work Immersion subject, while 4.25% of Work Immersion subject teachers strongly agreed that social skills can develop their personality. A total of 4.06% of the respondents strongly agreed that confidence can develop their personality in the Work Immersion subject, while 4.5% of the Work Immersion subject teachers very strongly agreed that confidence can develop their personality. The results showed that personality development makes a certain change in one’s external and internal mechanisms, including certain behavior patterns, to reinforce good personality traits and remove or reduce negative personality traits. The researchers recommended that individuals should set their goals and objectives, remove shyness that can make their self-esteem low, and communicate and form good relationships with their coworkers and superiors. An individual’s personal development should be maximized in the workplace. Fortunately, there are many ways to improve for the team and the business, such as addressing knowledge gaps, ensuring health and wellbeing, enhancing existing skills, altering one’s work-life balance, and even roaming something completely new to adopt a growth mindset.
