In today’s world, technological advancements continue to capture our attention, and artificial intelligence (AI) is stealing the spotlight with its innovative and transformative capabilities. Nearly every facet of modern life is evolving because of AI — including the field of law enforcement. From enhancing crime detection to improving operational efficiency, AI is being integrated into policing in various ways, reshaping how justice is served. This is a methodological approach designed to describe the topic or subject under study in detail. It serves as a foundational tool for researchers, enabling them to observe, record, and analyze the intricate aspects of a particular subject. By providing a rich and comprehensive account, this method helps in understanding, categorizing, and interpreting the subject matter more effectively. Respondent demographics from Police Station 14 reveal a predominantly young (26–33 years old), male, single, and college-educated workforce, with most officers having 4–6 years of service. This profile suggests a potentially adaptable force open to technological advancements, though the male-dominated demographic may warrant attention to potential biases. Overall, officers view Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a valuable tool for enhancing law enforcement, particularly for improving efficiency and responsiveness. However, they also recognize the need for further development in AI implementation.
Identified challenges where AI could provide solutions include slow response times, inherent biases within AI systems, limited CCTV and body camera coverage, privacy concerns, and insufficient training in AI and cybersecurity. Human error in crime detection and cybercrime investigations were also noted as key areas for improvement.
To address these issues, recommendations include expanding CCTV coverage, digitizing records, enhancing inter-unit communication, and minimizing physical contact during incident reporting. AI could further streamline emergency responses, improve background checks, and expedite report processing—all while ensuring human rights are upheld. The study explored the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Police Station 14, Quezon City, highlighting its potential to improve efficiency, responsiveness, and accuracy in law enforcement. While the majority of officers expressed positive views on AI, challenges in data collection included limited officer availability, confidentiality restrictions, and hesitation to discuss sensitive issues. The findings indicate that successful AI integration will require expanded infrastructure, specialized training, and careful consideration of ethical and privacy concerns.
