Abstract

This study investigates how mobile devices impact the academic performance of Bestlink College students during the 2024–2025 school year, using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). It examines student demographics, types of devices used, challenges faced, and the effects on critical thinking, time management, and social interaction. The findings aim to provide recommendations for improved integration of mobile technology, benefiting students, teachers, and school administration, while also informing future research. This study employs a descriptive quantitative research design to examine perceptions of academic improvement among senior high school students. A survey questionnaire serves as the primary data collection tool and has been validated by a research adviser, statistician, and grammarian. The questionnaire is divided into four sections: demographic profile, mobile device usage, its impact on academic performance, and challenges faced by students. This structured approach ensures the effective collection of reliable and valid data. Based on the findings the respondents illustrate how mobile devices influence them in terms of critical thinking skills, time management, and social interaction. It was identified the convenience of mobile devices and the issues of mobile devices. Findings show that mobile devices have a great impact; it depends on how the students use their mobile devices. This wraps up the summary of findings, conclusions, and recommendations. The majority of respondents are 15 to 16 years old, male, and in Grade 12, with smartphones being the go-to device. While mobile devices can boost critical thinking, time management, and social interaction, they also bring along some challenges like distraction and addiction. The study recommends setting limits on usage, improving digital literacy, and encouraging responsible device use with support from schools and parents.
